Second Transnational Meeting of the unBLOCKed Project: Tools That Are Transforming Education

From 20 to 22 August, the second transnational meeting of the unBLOCKed project – Using VR technology in the design of teaching practices for students with disabilities in special education, co-funded by the European Union, was held in Bozyazı, Türkiye. All partner organisations took part in the meeting: Fundación ASPAYM Castilla y León (Valladolid), Brainstorming (Zamora), Maker Minds and Bozyazı DDNE (Türkiye), School Center of Inclusive Education (Romania), and Center Janeza Levca Ljubljana (Slovenia).

The unBLOCKed project aims to improve the learning and autonomy of students with mild intellectual disabilities through the use of virtual reality and gamification in special education. The results developed so far include the educational scenarios that will serve as the basis for the game, the first images of the game, and the guide to facilitate its use and implementation. These results, together with the progress made throughout the project, can be consulted on the official unBLOCKed website.

During the three-day meeting, the partner organisations addressed the main areas of progress within the project:

Review of the results developed so far.
Presentation of the technical progress of the unBLOCKed VR game, including the first images of the environment, avatars, game mechanics and interactions.
Planning of the first prototype, teacher training activities and upcoming pilot testing.
Monitoring of quality, financial management, dissemination, and the project’s upcoming deadlines and responsibilities.

With the completion of this second transnational meeting, Fundación ASPAYM Castilla y León and the other project partners reaffirm their commitment to educational innovation, social inclusion and international cooperation, making further progress in the development of virtual reality-based tools that contribute to improving the learning, autonomy and participation of students with disabilities.
